Gardens of La Palomera
The Conuco of Pedro Velasquez

Pedro is 63 years old. He is a native of Baruta and for the last 20 years he has had a conuco because he says he has always liked to plant. He owns a mechanic shop that is right next to the terraced land where he has the conuco. He buys almost all the species he plants from a nursery in La Cortada del Guayabo, Hoyo de la Puerta. Some moriche palms were brought from Hacienda Santa Teresa, and he received other species as gifts. Mr. Pedro Antonio helps him with the care of the conuco where he mostly harvests edible plants. There is an abundance of yucca, chili, mango, yam, nispero, sweet chili, cherry, lemon, mango, strawberry, california orange and other species. It also has a hen farm.
